Red Horse Yellow Field

$125.00

7”x10”

Pen, ink, watercolor, gouache on watercolor paper

One of my favorite ways of getting my creative juices flowing is to start with pen and ink doodles on watercolor. From there, I begin to apply watercolor, more pen and ink, and gouache. I never quite know what will “show up” for me on these paintings. Sometimes I put them aside for a while, at all stages. Eventually, something begins to take form. In this one, the red horse nearly leaped from my brush. I love it when that happens. The fields made themselves known to me much more slowly.

This painting was created as part of The Paint Club Collective, a group of horse obsessed artists that love to get together to paint. Every few years, we have a booth at a horse show, pick a charity, and present our works. The show participants, families and friends are enthusiastic and generous supporters and we all sell nearly all of our paintings. Our main focus is to have fun and to get art into the hands of as many people as we can! A portion of every sale goes to the charity, in this case The Linda Acheson Dressage Education Fund offered by the Oregon Dressage Society. The sale lasts two day, only. This little goody ended up in the corner of the studio and never made it to the show, so now you have a chance at it.
